Embarking on a home remodel can be daunting. In addition to the financial investment, a remodel project creates disruption to your home and your daily routines. We understand the impact construction will have on your life. Our goal is to minimize disruption and create a plan that allows you to be informed about, and confident in, the work happening inside your home.
Working with us is an organized, thoughtful process:
Step 1: Free Consultation with Frame to Finish Owner, Ben Jones
The first step in the home remodel process is a free consultation with Ben, Founder and Owner of Frame to Finish. The first conversation often takes place over the phone, with Ben taking extensive notes about your vision, your goals, and your needs during the project.
Ben will walk through the conceptualized process as much as possible during this first conversation and will follow the conversation with a detailed email to summarize the key points.
The key to success with a home remodel project is to have a thorough understanding of the goals for the project, as well as your motivations and what you’re trying to achieve. We like to understand the “why” behind the project. Are you needing to accommodate a growing family? Do you dream of having a kitchen built for entertaining? Sharing these goals will help us connect with your vision and offer suggestions along the way.
Step 2: Site Visit and Remodel Project Overview
Ben will come to your home and walk through the remodel space. This is a great time to talk about the general aesthetic you’re looking to achieve and discuss the elements that are important to you. During this meeting, Ben will take extensive notes and measurements, as well as photographs of the space.
During this meeting, we’ll want to talk about your needs during the home remodel. For example, if you’re embarking on a bathroom remodel, is there another bathroom in the home for your use? If your project plan includes a kitchen remodel, which is often central to the home, what are your entry and exit options to ensure your ability to come and go around the construction site?
Understanding any limitations or constraints early in the planning process can save a tremendous amount of time and stress during the project. Give some thought to what you need during the remodel and communicate those needs in this initial meeting. This allows us to build that into our timeline so everything on your list is considered in the plan.
Following the on-site meeting, Ben will send you an outline of the project and a free estimate. If you decide to move forward, this will become the baseline for the fully formed proposal.
Step 3: Detailed Project Proposal and Scope
We take great pride in our comprehensive bid proposals. We have a high success rate for staying on time and on budget. Much of that success comes from the extra time and effort invested in this early phase to ensure everything is factored into the itemized proposal and clearly defined in the process.
When you decide to move forward with a Frame to Finish remodel project, your thorough proposal will outline the entire scope of work in extensive detail. In addition to a robust project estimate, the proposal includes a detailed schedule of all the work being performed, when it will be done, and what that process will look like.
There is never a point in the construction process where you should be surprised by what is happening in your home.
Our primary goal is for you to enter into this contract with a full understanding of the project and to be informed about the process every step of the way. We believe this extra organization and planning helps us perform work at the highest level and ensures you have an optimal experience, with a full understanding of what to expect.
Once you sign the detailed proposal, we’ll work with you to get your home remodel project on the calendar!
Step 4: Preparation and Site Planning
We place a huge emphasis on protecting your home while we are inside it. Before any construction work begins, our team will apply floor coverings and create dedicated pathways to protect your floors in the workspace and throughout any entry and exit paths we plan to use.
Our team also prioritizes containment areas, hanging sheeting and constructing zip walls to protect the rest of your home from dust and debris. We will ensure the dust and tools are contained to the worksite.
We commit to treating your home in the way we would treat our own, and make sure every step is taken to protect your living spaces from the disruption of the remodel.
Step 5: Construction and Communication
We take a team approach to every home remodel project. You’ll have a point of contact we call the Site Lead. That person will have all the information about every aspect of the project. If you have any questions or concerns during construction, you can talk with the Site Lead directly.
Sometimes we come across unforeseen challenges during construction that require us to adjust the scope. An example of this could be discovering rot in the walls or beams. If we encounter situations like this, the Site Lead will communicate with you and liaison with Ben regarding any change orders or adjustments. We prioritize communication and customer experience in each of our projects. When a problem arises, we will ensure you’re informed and have options.
Step 6: Project Completion On Time and On Budget
We stand by our estimates and guarantee our work. We install to manufacturer specifications so your warrantees will be intact. You can have confidence in the work we’ve completed and know your investment will stand the test of time.
When the project is complete, we’ll confirm that we’ve met your expectations and you're satisfied. We’re not done until you’re happy with the outcome!
